Is Google Maps Blurring the Line Between Map and Social Network?

Google Maps has gained a lot of features over the years that help connect friends, family and other users of Google Maps around the world. Although Google Maps may not be exactly a social network like Facebook and others, its recent features make it more social than people might realize.

Even if you may not be aware that you have ever posted a review of a particular review, you have a Google Maps profile, which people see when they look at that review. A new feature allows a person to edit their Google Maps profile on their phone. After opening the app, the you tap ‘contribute’, then ‘view your profile’, and finally click on ‘Edit profile’.

After editing the Google Maps profile, another feature makes it even more like a social network where you can follow and follow people. To follow someone in the Google Maps app, the person only has to click on a name in a review or select a rating and then select “follow.” There are ways to see your followers and not follow people. Other features include other features similar to those in other social media apps, such as a message box, ratings and ratings, as well as sharing places.
