U.S. Pipeline Hackers Claim Breach of 3 New Companies

DarkSide, the hacking group blamed for crippling the Colonial Pipeline and its operations in the southeastern United States, claimed responsibility for the break-in at three other companies on Wednesday.

The three companies were a Brazilian battery firm, a Chicago-based technology company, and a British engineering firm.

Colonial Pipeline expressed no interest in paying the ransom demanded by the hackers, who had encrypted their data.

It is now working closely with law enforcement and FireEye, a U.S. cybersecurity group, to repair the damage and restore operations.

The hack crippled operations of the Colonial Pipeline, causing panic buying and gasoline shortages in the U.S.
