Gates Reportedly Resigned From Microsoft Board After Affair With Employee

A report in the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) revealed that Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates may have resigned from his post at the company as a result of the investigation into his affair with a company employee.

According to the WSJ, some board members “decided it was no longer suitable” for Gates to remain a director at Microsoft.

As more and more information about the sexual relationship came to light, Gates stepped down before an official decision could be made.

However, a spokesman for Gates denied such claims: “There was an affair almost 20 years ago which ended amicably. His decision to transition off the board was in no way related to this matter. In fact, he had expressed an interest in spending more time on his philanthropy starting several years earlier.”
