Parler Is Back On iPhones, Announces New CEO

Parler, an American social media app popular among conservatives, returned to Apple’s App Store on Monday after being initially removed by the iPhone maker for its involvement in the January 6 riots in the U.S. capital.

The social media app also revealed that George Farmer, who has served as the company’s chief operating officer since March, will become its new CEO.

Last month, Apple said it would bring back Parler to its App Store after the social media app released updates to its app while outlining various policies for moderating content.

In an emailed statement, interim CEO Mark Meckler, who will leave the company said: “The entire Parler team has worked hard to address Apple’s concerns without compromising our core mission. Anything allowed on the Parler network, but not in the iOS app, will remain accessible through our web-based and Android versions. This is a win-win for Parler, its users, and free speech.”
