Google Pay App Replaced With A Newer Version And New Updates

The old Google Pay app is now completely ineffective in the U.S., losing the ability to claim money and display transaction history.

This change will only impact users in the U.S., as other regions where the new Google Pay has not yet been introduced will still be able to use the older apps.

Wear OS fans can continue to use Google Pay for payments from their watch, avoiding using the new Google Pay app to make contactless payments only on their watch.

Users of Google Pay in the U.S. who have unredeemed money must contact Google Support to reclaim the money.

The timing of this migration is of particular interest, as the new Google Pay app is still listed as “Early Access” in the Play Store. Whether the app will be upgraded from Early Access is unknown.

Users must now be 18 years old to have a Google Pay account, in addition to the minimum age of 16 in the past.
