Google May Be Adding A Find My Phone Feature

Google is working to design Android phones, so they can find lost devices, much like Apple’s Find My network.

A switch for the feature popped up in a beta of the Google Play Services, with code pointing to the ability of phones to find other devices, including Android phones.

According to Google’s support page, the current Find My Device system can only find phones that are turned on, have a data or Wi-Fi signal, and have location services enabled.

It remains unclear which of these restrictions would eliminate the relay network function, called Spot.

Google has other projects that use a network of Android phones – in particular, its earthquake detection, which follows exactly the same concept.
