Lorenz Ransomware Decryptor Recovers Files With No Ransom Fee

A cybersecurity firm, Tesorion, recently released a free decryptor for the human-operated ransomware, Lorenz Ransomware, which allows victims to restore some of their encrypted files for free without paying a ransom.

The company also gave an insight into the encryption techniques used by the Lorenz Ransomware.

Unlike other ransomware decryptors, which contain the actual decryption key, Tesorions decryption works differently, because it can only decrypt files with known structures such as office documents, PDF files, some image types and movie files.

Tesorions Decryptor can decrypt known file types like as XLS and XLSX files but is unable to decrypt unknown file types or those with unusual file structures.
