Biden To Order FTC To Outline ‘Right to Repair’ Rules

According to Bloomberg, President Joe Biden will soon instruct the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to draft new regulations that will allow people to fix their mobile devices themselves, as well as in independent stores.

Companies like Caterpillar, John Deere, and Apple have consistently fought against the need for this law, which would allow people to repair their phones themselves by compromising the safety of their devices.

Recent reports show that telephone companies will be a potential target of the legislation, while farmers will be the main beneficiaries of the new policy.

A president has never discussed this issue making Biden the first to do so.

This step follows the Europen Commissions in 2020 when it announced it would introduce legislation to push manufacturers to make products that are easier to reuse and repair.
