iPhone Models 11 And 12 Compromised In Pegasus Spyware Hack

Research by Amnesty International revealed that the Pegasus spyware program sold by surveillance company NSO was able to infect iPhone models 11 and 12 through zero-click attacks in the iMessage app.

Due to a data leak of 50,000 phone numbers, Amnesty’s security lab was able to analyze 67 smartphones and found that Pegasus had infiltrated 37 of them.

Android phones have also been targeted.

The mobile malware allows its operators to receive GPS coordinates, text messages, photos, emails, encrypted chats from apps such as WhatsApp and Signal, record phone calls and turn on the microphone and camera without the user’s knowledge.

Apple has revealed that it is constantly introducing new protections for its products, a sign that it is taking this security threat seriously.
