Signal Solves Bug That Sent Images To Wrong Contacts

Signal has fixed a serious bug in its Android app that in many cases sends random unintended pictures to contacts without any explanation.

When an image is sent to a contact using the Signal Android app, the contact occasionally receives not only the selected image but also a few random, unintentional images that the sender never sent.

This was first reported by Rob Connolly on the app’s GitHub page in December 2020, with other users also coming forward to confirm Connolly’s findings.

After the initial report in December 2020, Signal’s team stepped in immediately and requested logs to fix the glitch.

Just this month, a fixed version of the Signal Android app was launched.

Currently, the problem only appears to have affected the Android version of the app.

Users of the Signal Android app are advised to upgrade to the latest version of the app via the Google Play Store.
