Chase Bank Leaked Customer Info By Accident

Chase Bank recently confirmed that a technical error on its online banking website and app had caused customers’ bank details to be accidentally leaked to other customers.

The incident, which is believed to have taken place between May 24 and July 14, involved both online banking and customers of the Chase Mobile app who shared similar information and revealed bank customer details, including bank statements, transaction lists, names and account numbers.

The bank blamed a “technical issue” for the incident, saying: “We learned of a technical issue here that may have mistakenly allowed another customer with similar personal information to see your account information on chase.com or in the Chase Mobile app, or receive your account statements.”

Chase Bank will continue to inform affected customers and provide free credit monitoring services. “We are sorry for letting you down and would like to offer you one year of free credit monitoring through Experian’s IdentityWorks,” the bank added.

At the moment, Chase Bank cannot say how many customers were affected by the problem, including the true cause behind the incident.
