How To Keep A Digital Copy Of Your Vaccination Card

Share post:

As many cities begin requiring vaccine proof to do everyday activities, keeping a digital copy of a vaccination card will be ideal.

Instead of carrying the card around or laminating it, which prevents your doctor from updating it with future booster shots, adding a digital copy of your vaccination card to your phone is important. Here are a few digital options:

The quickest way to get a backup copy of a card and information about vaccination is to snap a picture of your vaccination certificate and keep it on your phone. The Centres for Disease Control and Prevention recommends keeping a backup image of your card.

On an iPhone, open the Photos app, select the Albums tab, and then tap the + sign in the upper left corner followed by New Album. Name the album, then tap Save. Finally, select the photos on your card to add to the album.

On an Android phone, this depends on which app you’re using, but the process should generally be the same. If you’re using the Google Photos app, open the app and then select the image of your vaccination card. Tap the three-point menu button at the top right, followed by the Add to Album Tap + New Album and give it a name like “Vaccination Card” and tap the check button once

To add your card to Samsung Pay, you must download the CommonHealth app, Samsung’s partner from the Google Play Store. Follow the instructions in the app to verify your vaccination status. Once the app confirms your vaccination, you will be prompted to download a Smart Health Card to Samsung Pay.

A number of states including New York, Colorado and California, have some sort of digital vaccination certificate. Louisiana’s LA Wallet app takes a similar approach, allowing you to add your driver’s license and vaccination certificate to your phone.

California’s implementation will force you to fill out a form to verify your identity, then you will receive an SMS or email with a link to a QR code that can be stored on your phone. Once scanned, the code will provide proof of vaccination, and the link will also include a digital copy of your vaccination certificate.

MyIR Mobile is another app used by various state health agencies to provide a digital copy of your vaccination certificates, such as Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, North Dakota, Tennessee, Washington, West Virginia or Washington, DC.
