Microsoft Kicks Unsupported PCs Out of Windows 11 Preview

Microsoft’s Senior Program Manager Brandon LeBlanc explained that unsupported devices will no longer receive new Windows 11 builds, although they will continue to receive cumulative updates.

The clarification became needed after reports revealed that Microsoft threw unsupported Windows 11 devices out of the Windows 11 preview program.

Windows Insiders in the ‘Dev’ channel were initially allowed to use their unsupported devices to install and test Windows 11, while reassuring users of unsupported devices that they could continue previewing Windows 11 until October 5, 2021, when the service will be widely available.

Users had received a notification saying, “Your PC does not meet the minimum hardware requirements for Windows 11. Your device is not eligible to join the Windows Insider Program on Windows 11. Please install Window 10 to participate in the Windows Insider Program in the Release Preview Channel.” After that, customers would be required to install Windows 10 to get new builds.
