Microsoft to Reopen US Offices Site by Site

Microsoft revealed last Thursday that it will no longer set a specific date for the reopening of all of its U.S. offices.

Instead, Microsoft has stated it will reopen each site based on whether it meets a set of corporate standards and local health guidelines.

The company had previously announced it would open its headquarters in Redmond and its other U.S. offices on October 4.

Microsoft said Thursday that every U.S. site will return to work once all local government guidelines are met and the site has reached their “Stage 6” set of criteria as detailed last March. Stage 6 requires that “COVID-19 is no longer a significant burden on the local community and presents itself more like an endemic virus such as the seasonal flu.”

A number of other major technology companies are also postponing a return to office, while others like Facebook are calling for mandatory vaccinations because of the rising number of cases in the U.S.
