Zoom Updates Chat to Add Personal Notes and Meanings

Zoom is set to bring status update information from email clients to its chat and meeting room features to make it easier to identify those who are missing from a meeting and see those out on PTO at a given time.

For the Zoom Meetings, some of the update changes include participant attendance status, which allows the host to view a list of other participants who are invited to the meeting but not present, provided that the host has configured the Google or Outlook Calendar integration.

In addition, Zoom is adding an overview of security settings that allows hosts to verify the security features introduced for the meeting.

Finally, Zoom will now allow users to align separate audio tracks for local recordings, which will help synchronize tracks so they start at the same point.

The chat function of Zoom has also been revised and a rich text formatting has been introduced for the chat function.

This provides numerous new features such as bold, italic, underlined, strike-through, highlighting, text colour, font size, bulleted and numbered lists, hyperlinks, and personal notes. This includes a feature that allows users to configure a note indicating unavailability or impending PTO for the selected timeframe.

The final update will allow users to quote specific messages sent in a channel, avoiding confusion and eliminating the need for others to scroll up to get the original question or message.
