Amazon Takes Team-Wise Approach on Remote Work Policy

Retail giant Amazon will allow individual teams to decide how many days members of companies need to work from their offices in a week, Chief Executive Andy Jassy said in a memo to Amazon employees on Monday.

Previously, Amazon required its employees to return to the office for at least three days a week from January 3.

Jassy said Amazon employees will be allowed to work remotely for up to four weeks a year from any location within the country of employment.

As one of the largest private employers in America, Amazon would also require its employees to be close enough to their teams to attend meetings within a day’s notice.

The technology giant, which began on-site vaccinations for its front-line staff in the United States last March, is taking a flexible approach to reopening similar to Microsoft Corp, which is also taking a location-based approach to reopening U.S. offices.
