No Comment on Russian Ransomware Gang Attack Claims NRA

The National Rifle Association (NRA) has released a statement saying it does not discuss any issues related to its physical or electronic security.

According to NRA Public Affairs MD, “NRA does not discuss matters relating to its physical or electronic security. However, the NRA takes extraordinary measures to protect information regarding its members, donors, and operations- and is vigilant in doing so.”

The statement while refusing to answer the current question, came after a Russian hacking group, the Grief ransomware gang took responsibility for a recent attack on the organization and at the same time published stolen data to prove the authenticity of their claims.

The gang also added the NRA to the list of victims on its data leak page and showed screenshots of Excel spreadsheets containing U.S. tax information and investment totals. A 2.7 MB archive titled ‘National Grants.zip’ allegedly said to contain NRA funding applications, was also leaked by the threat actors.
