Microsoft To Launch ‘Defender for Business’ Platform

Microsoft announced the launch of Microsoft Defender for Business. Once available, customers will be able to purchase Microsoft’s platform as a stand-alone offering that costs $3 per user each month.

According to Jon Maunder, product marketing manager of Microsoft 365, Microsoft was motivated to create the platform due to a 300% increase in ransomware attacks last year and that the product, a security tool is “specially built to bring enterprise-grade endpoint security to businesses with up to 300 employees, in a solution that is easy-to-use and cost-effective.”

Although equipped with endpoint detection and response, manual response, automated investigation capabilities, and more, the platform covers important security areas. These include threat and vulnerability management to address configuration errors, attack interface reduction, antimalware, and antivirus protection.

He further explained that the tool will work regardless of whether the email tools and productivity tools are local users, Microsoft 365 or other solutions, and it will also be included as part of Microsoft 365 Business Premium accounts and can be integrated with Microsoft 365 Lighthouse.
