Brief Outage Impacts Google Cloud, Snap, Spotify

Major social media platforms such as Snapchat, Spotify experienced a brief global outage before going online again.

Google said technical problems in its cloud network, which has Etsy, Spotify and Snapchat as customers, were partially restored shortly after thousands of users from around the world flagged it on downdetector.com, an outage tracking website.

Google Cloud’s dashboard also showed that services such as cloud developer tools, cloud consoles and cloud engines encountered glitches.

Spotify said it was fully aware of “some issues right now and are checking them” after more than 50,000 users flagged the music streaming platform on Downdetector, but these have already been resolved, according to the website.

Fastly, the cloud company that encountered a major global internet outage in June, reported that it had found increasing bugs stemming from a “common cloud provider which was not related to Fastly’s edge cloud platform.”

Tuesday’s brief disruption came after a six-hour global outage by Meta Platforms Inc, better known as Facebook, caused by faulty configuration changes to the social media giant’s routers.
