Meta Reverses Policy Banning Kyle Rittenhouse From Facebook, Instagram

Meta has confirmed that Kyle Rittenhouse will be able to use his Facebook and Instagram accounts from now on after initially being banned in 2020.

This comes as he was cleared of all charges against him after he killed two people and injured another during protests against racial justice in Kenosha, Wis., last summer.

Meta spokesman Andy Stones said: “After the verdict in Kenosha we have rolled back the restrictions we had in place that limited search results from returning content related to key terms including Kyle Rittenhouse. While we will still remove content that celebrates the death of the individuals killed in Kenosha, we will no longer remove content containing praise or support of Rittenhouse.”

Stones said the restrictions were lifted based on time passage and public interest in the trial.

In the future, Rittenhouse will be able to create new accounts on Instagram or Facebook or, better still, demand the return of its previous accounts. However, the company points out that it will be subject to various platform standards.
