Asus Issues A Product Recall After Complaints From Users

Asus recently issued a product recall for one of its Z690 Hero products, which became necessary after users told the company that the product’s motherboard was burning and producing smoke after normal use.

In a statement about the issue, Asus said: “We have recently received incident reports regarding the ROG Maximus Z690 Hero motherboard. The issue potentially affects units manufactured in 2021 with the part number 90MB18E0-MVAAY0 and serial numbers starting with MA, MB, or MC.”

The company said the problem could “affect units manufactured in 2021,” with a specific part and serial number. Those who owned the motherboard should check to see if their product is affected.

Customers can also enter their serial number on the Asus website to confirm if their product is defective or not.

Based on customer complaints, the majority said they saw a Bios warning code of 53 on the screen, indicating an error in memory initialization, while other users smelled smoke and noticed burn marks on the product.
