Meta announced Friday that the company’s head of communications, John Pinette, is leaving the organization.

A Meta spokesperson said that Chris Norton, vice president of international communications, will fill Pinette’s position on an interim basis.

“John Pinette has left Meta. We are thankful for his positive contributions during an intense and significant time in the company’s history, and we wish him well going forward,” the statement read.

When asked about Pinette’s departure and the reason for the move, Meta’s spokesperson declined to answer, citing the company’s policy of not commenting on personnel matters.

Prior to his job at Facebook, now Meta, Pinette was head of communications for Gates Ventures, Bill Gates’s private office and innovation lab, for five years.

He was Head of Asia-Pacific communications for Google. Pinette also held several key positions in product and corporate communications at Microsoft.
