IT Sector Contribute To Brazil’s GDP Growth

The IT and telecommunications sector in Brazil recorded 12.3% growth in 2021.

The figure significantly increased Brazil’s GDP in 2021 by 4.6% compared to 2020. Brazil made 8.7 trillion Brazilian reais ($1.7 trillion) in 2021.

According to analytics firm IDC, the IT and telecommunications sector is expected to grow by 8.2% in 2022. IT is projected to grow by 10.6% and telecommunications by 4%.

Growth in the IT sector started during the COVID-19 crisis, but took a giant leap in 2021 thanks to demand for remote work and study.

The steady digital transformation of companies over the last three years has also contributed to the growth of the sector.

Looking ahead, IDC predicts that Brazil’s IT growth will be driven by device sales, while telecommunications growth will be driven by mobile data sophistication and the rapid adoption of 5G.

For the enterprise IT sector, growth will be driven by cloud maturity, acceleration of the IT services market and positive prospects for the software industry.

“Expectations for growth in the Brazilian ICT market in 2022 are the highest for the last eight years, despite a scenario of moderate economic growth in Latin America and a period of elections in our country,” Denis Arcieri, country manager at IDC Brazil explained.
