Avast Cybersecurity Firm Suspends Operations In Russia and Belarus

Cybersecurity firm Avast has stated that it will be suspending its operations in Russia and Belarus.

“With immediate effect, we have withdrawn the availability of all of our products from Russia and Belarus and suspended all marketing and sales operations in these countries,” Avast statement noted.

Avast, therefore, joins the list of organizations that sanctioned Russia for invading Ukraine.

Avast stated that it will solidify its presence in Ukraine. To do this, the company noted that it will offer its premium products for free.

“We are giving paying users an extension on their licenses for free. Users of our freemium products are now also able to get our premium products for free. And our existing free products are still available to those who want them without disruption,” the statement explained.

Ever since Russia invaded Ukraine, the country has continued to face sanctions from organizations around the world. While some of these organizations limit their operations in Russia, others simply cut ties with the country.
