47% of respondents in a recent GitLab survey chose DevOps or DevSecOps as their preferred practice option, a 5% jump from 2021.
The growing adoption benefits the software industry in general. 7 out of 10 DevOps teams are now continuously increasing code, 63% more than last year. At least 60% of developers are releasing code faster than before. 35% say they are releasing code twice as fast, 15% are releasing code between three and five times faster, and 8% are releasing code more than five times faster.
The deployment of DevOps is supported by a high degree of automation, which is also applied to software delivery. In this regard, 62% of DevOps teams are practicing ModelOps, 31% of teams are actively using AI and machine learning algorithms for code verification, which is more than twice as many as in 2021. 37% of teams are using AI/ML in software testing (up from 25%) and another 20% are planning to introduce it this year. 19% plan to introduce AI/ ML-powered testing in the next two to three years.
Toolchain issues and security remain widespread among the most pressing challenges for DevOps-based software deployments.
69% of managers or professionals are committed to consolidating their toolchains to meet challenges with monitoring, development delays and adverse impacts on the developer experience.
50% of the security experts in the survey stated that developers do not detect up to 75% of security issues, and despite the alarming figures, only 10% of respondents stated that they receive additional security budgets.
