ELEVEN Group joins sports streamer DAZN

DAZN, a streaming sports video platform, has announced an agreement to acquire the global sports media businesses of ELEVEN Group to expand its portfolio of rights, which includes the top soccer leagues in Portugal and Belgium. The deal’s terms were not disclosed.

DAZN, which has spread to more than 200 countries, said the deal would complement its brand in Italy, where it won the rights to broadcast Serie A live games with a 2.5 billion euro ($2.7 billion) bid, the German-speaking markets and Spain, where it already has top-notch national football rights, as well as Taiwan and other Southeast Asian markets.

Team Whistle, a provider of short-form original social media content, is also part of the deal, which DAZN says will generate around $300 million in revenue per year.

DAZN Group CEO Shay Segev stated that the acquisition is a significant step in the company’s mission to become the leading global sports platform and Andrea Radrizzani, founder of ELEVEN, will join the DAZN Board of Directors upon completion of the transaction.
