Microsoft update lets Office 365 users report Teams phishing messages

Share post:

Microsoft is working on an update that will allow Office 365 users to report Teams phishing messages. The feature will be available on Microsoft Defender for Office 365, and it will enable admins to filter potentially dangerous messages. These messages include those that target employees with malicious payloads or redirect them to a malicious site.

“End users will be able to report suspicious Microsoft Teams messages as a security threat, just like they do for emails – to help the organization to protect itself from attacks via Microsoft Teams,” Microsoft explains on the Microsoft 365 roadmap.

The feature is in preview and is expected to be rolled out to standard multi-client desktop and web clients worldwide by the end of January 2023.

Microsoft is also working on other security features, including updating Defender for Office 365’s Submissions experience to categorize user-reported messages into individual tabs for Phish and Spam (Junk) based on user reports.

The new user reporting feature complements the recently released security measures by Microsoft to prevent organizations from being compromised by phishing or other exploited vulnerabilities.
