Volkswagen set to stop running Twitter Ads

Share post:

Following Elon Musk’s takeover of Twitter, Volkswagen has announced that its brands will no longer engage in paid advertising on Twitter until further notice.

“We are closely monitoring the situation and will decide about next steps depending on its evolvement,” Volkswagen said in a statement earlier to echo similar remarks from other firms, including Ford and General Motors.

A Volkswagen spokesperson stated that all brands had heeded the advice, with Audi opting to discontinue organic activities such as direct posts and only respond to client questions on the website.

Audi hasn’t tweeted since November 1st, despite previously tweeting nearly every day. Elon Musk purchased Twitter in late October.

Volkswagen is not the first automaker to halt Twitter advertising. General Motors, an American automaker, did the same about a week ago. Following Elon Musk’s takeover, General Motors has announced that it will temporarily suspend paid advertising on Twitter. Since then, an increasing number of brands have stopped advertising on Twitter.
