Robot lawyer to make court debut in February

A robot lawyer, who uses bluetooth to tell defendants what to say, plans to fight two speeding tickets in court next month. Joshua Browder is the CEO of DoNotPay, the startup that announced on Twitter last week.

“On February 22nd at 1.30PM, history will be made. For the first time ever, a robot will represent someone in a US courtroom. DoNotPay A.I will whisper in someone’s ear exactly what to say. We will release the results and share more after it happens. Wish us luck!” he tweeted.

According to Browder, the company’s AI-creation runs on a smartphone and listens to court arguments before formulating responses for the defendant. Through headphones, the AI lawyer instructs the defendant on what to say.

The AI robot was created by the “DoNotPay” company. It will function as a smartphone app, live-streaming all court proceedings. Using headphones, the robot will instruct the defendant on what to say, much like a human attorney would.

Browder previously offered $1 million to any lawyer or individual who uses his AI-powered robot lawyer app to argue an upcoming Supreme Court case. He now hopes that “if these cases are successful, more courts will change their rules.” However, if the AI-powered lawyer loses the case, the company will cover the costs.
