Sundar Pichai’s compensation in 2022 hits $226 Million

Alphabet Inc, Google’s parent company, has revealed that its CEO, Sundar Pichai, was paid a total of nearly $226 million in 2022. This sum is more than 800 times the average employee wage. It consists of around $218 million in stock awards.

Pichai’s remuneration package was unveiled at a time when the company was cutting jobs all across the world. In January, it revealed plans to lay off 12,000 individuals worldwide, or around 6% of its global workforce.

Pichai’s salary package, which included a $218 million stock award, made him one of the highest-paid business CEOs in the world in 2022. His total income in 2021 was $6.3 million, and he has been paid a consistent salary of $2 million for the last three years. Alphabet spent $5.94 million on Pichai’s personal protection as part of his remuneration package.

Pichai’s stock reward is issued every three years, and he received a comparable payout of $281 million in 2019. In 2022, Pichai’s pay is much greater than that of other Alphabet executives, with Prabhakar Raghavan and Philipp Schindler collecting roughly $37 million, and Ruth Porat, the Chief Financial Officer, receiving $24.5 million.
