Linda Yaccarino is the new CEO of Twitter according to Elon Musk.

Yaccarino, who was instrumental in modernizing the advertising business at NBCUniversal, has voiced her excitement about working with Musk to change Twitter. She highlights the significance of user feedback in shaping Twitter’s future, demonstrating a commitment to embracing the platform’s users’ wants and preferences in the creation of “Twitter 2.0.”

Yaccarino’s appointment was announced on Friday, May 12, 2023, following rumours the previous Thursday that she was in negotiations to become Twitter’s next CEO. In a tweet the following Saturday, she expressed her admiration for Musk’s vision of a better future, as well as her excitement to contribute to the development and change of the social media behemoth.

Yaccarino offers substantial industry expertise to her new job as she has previously served as chairman of global advertising and partnerships at NBCUniversal. Prior to joining NBCUniversal, she worked at Turner Entertainment as chief operations officer and executive vice president.

Yaccarino’s hiring comes at a critical juncture for Twitter, as the firm struggles to recapture ad income while also managing a hefty debt load. Despite Elon Musk’s aim to build a “everything app” and broaden Twitter’s offerings, the hiring of an advertising expert like Yaccarino signals that digital advertising will continue to be a priority.

Musk hopes that by bringing Yaccarino on board, he will be able to devote more of his time and attention to his other company, Tesla, while leaving the change of Twitter to Yaccarino. g the transformation of Twitter to Yaccarino.
