AI to impact industries, CEOs claims

According to a new Gartner survey, CEOs and top executives believe that artificial intelligence (AI) will have a substantial influence on their industry in the next three years.

According to the survey, which included over 400 CEOs and senior business executives from North America, Europe, Asia/Pacific, Latin America, the Middle East, and South Africa, AI is the top technology driving industry transformation, according to 21% of respondents.

Mark Raskino, Distinguished Vice President Analyst at Gartner, says generative AI will have a significant impact on business and operating models. He emphasized the significant motivator of “fear of missing out” as a motivator for CEOs to invest in AI. As the technology reaches a tipping point, CEOs that have yet to invest in AI are increasingly anxious about losing a competitive advantage.

Gartner predicts that environmental sustainability will exceed technology-related issues as the highest CEO strategic business priority by 2026. The influence of inflation on customer behavior was mentioned in the study, with over a quarter of respondents predicting a shift in customer expectations toward higher price sensitivity. Also, according to 26% of CEOs, the most detrimental risk to firms is a lack of talent.
