Canadian Defence Minister concerned over increasing cyberattacks

Canadian Defence Minister Anita Anand has issued a warning that the country’s key infrastructure is more vulnerable to cyberattacks, posing a substantial danger to the Canadian economy.

Anand disclosed at an Asian security event in Singapore that cyberattacks are on the rise in North America. While she did not expressly link these assaults to state-sponsored actors, her remarks follow the US State Department’s recent warning that China is capable of launching cyberattacks on oil and gas pipelines as well as rail networks.

The Canadian Defence Minister emphasized the importance of Canadian organizations and companies implementing mitigation measures to safeguard against these attacks. She highlighted the potential risks that such cyberattacks pose to the country’s economy and the systems that protect the lives of its citizens.
