Apple’s Vision Pro headset price tag stuns audience

The unveiling of Apple’s Vision Pro headset for a fixed price of $3,499 elicited murmurs and sighs from the live audience, as well as a lot of discussion on social media sites such as TikTok and Twitter. With 8.7 million views, a video released on TikTok by user @katamogz documenting the audience’s response to the price became viral, and many more views came via reposted tweets.

The disappointed audience in “Wii Sports,” a popular Nintendo game famed for its cartoonish visuals, was one of the most frequent analogies suggested by spectators. “Audience legit went Wii Bowling when you throw the ball backwards,” said one person. The sound was uncannily identical to the collective sigh heard upon striking a golf ball into the water in the Wii game.

Laughter from the audience was also recorded on video from several perspectives. Notably, the annual conference often attracts the most ardent Apple supporters, making the reaction all the more noteworthy.

As Apple CEO Tim Cook delivered the presentation, it is possible that he was counting on these loyal fans to dip into their high-yield Apple savings accounts to afford the Vision Pro headset.
