Threads to add chronological feed

Threads, Meta’s new social media app, is adding an alternative home feed of posts in chronological order. This came after users complained that they were not seeing posts from accounts they followed in the order they were posted.

Instagram’s boss, Adam Mosseri, said that the new feed was “on the list” of changes to Threads, and that Mark Zuckerberg, Meta’s chief executive, had given it a “thumbs up.” Other features that are “on the list” for Threads include the ability to edit posts, translation into different languages, and making it easier to switch between different Threads accounts.

“If anyone was asking, both Instagram and Facebook have chronological feeds options, so yes, we’re going to bring one to Threads too,” wrote Mosseri. The comment came in reply to Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey, who said that Instagram has never allowed its users to “remove the algorithm” and that it’s going to be the same way on the newly launched Threads.

The update will make Threads even more like its rival Twitter, which currently allows users to toggle between a curated feed and followed-only content. In the future, it will have the ability to edit posts, support for multiple languages, and simple account switching. It will also have a desktop version, so you can use it on your laptop as well as your phone.
