LinkedIn launches government ID verification in Canada

LinkedIn and CLEAR are teaming up to enhance safety for Canadian members.

Users can now verify their identity for free using CLEAR’s platform directly from the LinkedIn app. Verified members will display a CLEAR indicator on their profiles. This feature is available in English and French, requiring a government ID and selfie for verification. Existing CLEAR users just need to take a selfie for LinkedIn verification.

The verification process is designed to help LinkedIn build a more trusted community of professionals in Canada. By verifying their identity, LinkedIn members can help ensure that their profiles are accurate and that they are who they say they are.

The government ID verification program is part of LinkedIn’s ongoing commitment to authenticity and security. The company has also implemented a number of other measures to protect its users, such as profile verification and spam prevention.

“We believe that authenticity is essential to building a trusted community of professionals,” said LinkedIn Canada Country Manager Diana Luu. “The government ID verification program is a key step in our efforts to make LinkedIn a safer and more reliable platform for everyone.”
