Pôle emploi, France’s governmental unemployment registration and financial aid agency, has notified of a data breach that exposed data belonging to 10 million individuals.

The exposed information includes full names and social security numbers, while email addresses, phone numbers, passwords, and banking data have not been affected. The data breach is believed to have been caused by a cyberattack on one of Pôle emploi’s service providers.

Pôle emploi has advised registered job seekers to be cautious with incoming communications and has set up a dedicated phone support line to address any questions or concerns.

The agency has also said that it is working to secure the data of job seekers and will implement additional protection measures to prevent similar incidents from happening in the future. The French government adds that it is taking steps to improve the security of its IT systems.
