Google Chrome gets Material You makeover

Google Chrome is getting a new look based on the Material You design language as part of its 15th birthday.

The update, which is coming in the next few weeks, will bring refreshed icons, a focus on legibility, and new color palettes that better complement your tabs and toolbar.

The new themes will also make it easy to distinguish between profiles, such as work and personal accounts. Google is also making improvements to Chrome’s usability, such as a more comprehensive menu for quicker access to Google Password Manager, Chrome extensions, Google Translate, and more. The side panel on the browser is now home to all bookmarks and a “Search this page with Google” feature.

In addition to the visual refresh, the Chrome Web Store is also getting a makeover. The new store features new AI-powered extensions and an editor’s spotlight along with more personal recommendations. Google is also upgrading Chrome’s security features. The “Safe Browsing” feature is now updated in real-time to protect users from phishing sites.
