Getty Images has joined forces with Nvidia to introduce Generative AI by Getty Images, a tool that allows users to make images using Getty’s collection of licensed photographs.
Generative AI by Getty Images exclusively learns from the extensive Getty Images library, encompassing premium materials, offering users comprehensive copyright protection. Getty assures that anyone utilizing the tool and commercially sharing the generated image will enjoy legal safeguarding.
Getty says it collaborated with Nvidia and harnessed its Edify model, accessible through Nvidia’s generative AI model repository known as Picasso.
The tool from Getty Images generates images based on textual descriptions or prompts, such as “a picture of a sandy tropical island surrounded by palm trees.”
Customers who utilize the tool to create and download visuals will be granted Getty’s regular royalty-free license. This license encompasses protection against copyright lawsuits (indemnification) and grants the right to use the images perpetually, worldwide, and nonexclusively across all forms of media, according to Getty.
Getty has devised a pricing model where customers will pay for each generated image. Moreover, contributors whose images contributed to the model’s training will receive compensation based on a formula that factors in the number of pieces provided and their popularity.
