Taylor Swift Fans Set Mobile Data Record at Rogers Centre

Taylor Swiftā€™s Eras Tour broke more than music records during her Toronto shows. On November 21, fans on Rogersā€™ 5G network used an unprecedented 7.4 terabytes of mobile data in a single evening, the company announced. This level of usageā€”equivalent to uploading 182,000 photos or streaming 1,600 hours of videoā€”set a new record for data traffic at the Rogers Centre.

Mark Kennedy, Rogersā€™ chief technology officer, highlighted the achievement, attributing it to the companyā€™s $8 million investment in boosting 5G capacity at the stadium. The upgrades provided the equivalent coverage of 33 downtown Toronto towers, ensuring seamless connectivity for the concertgoers.

Swiftā€™s six Toronto shows not only captivated fans but also provided a significant economic boost to the city. Destination Toronto estimated the concerts generated $282 million in economic impact, with $152 million in direct spending. Additionally, Moneris, a payment services provider, reported a 57% increase in downtown Toronto spending during the first three shows compared to the previous week.

Taylor Swiftā€™s Eras Tour concludes in Vancouver with three performances at BC Place from December 6 to 8.
