TikTok Partners UNESCO, WJC To Combat Holocaust Denial

To address the issue of Holocaust denial, TikTok announced plans to provide verified information to those interested in the topic.

TikTok explained that from now on, if people are looking for a term related to the Holocaust, they will see a banner at the top of the results page, prompting them to visit a WJC and UNESCO website (aboutholocaust.org) to learn more.

Another strategy for providing verified information is to show users the site when they look up hashtags such as #HolocaustSurvivor or #HolocaustRemembrance.

The company also confirmed that in the future it will place a permanent banner at the bottom of every video about the Holocaust to direct users to verified information.

“We believe education plays a critical role in striking out hate. Hateful behavior is incompatible with TikTok’s inclusive environment, and we’ll continue to put our full strength behind keeping our platform a place that is free of hate while harnessing the power of TikTok to educate our community,” said Elizabeth Kanter, TikTok’s Director of Government Relations.

To achieve its goal of fighting Holocaust denial, TikTok will work with UNESCO and the World Jewish Congress (WJC).
