Microsoft is preparing to fully reopen its facilities in Washington state from February 28 after a series of cancellations in the past.
In a February 14 blog post, the tech giant said it’s giving employees 30 days from February 28 to “make adjustments to their routines and adopt the working preferences they’ve agreed upon with their managers,” said Chris Capossela, executive vice president and chief marketing officer. Washington facilities will be open to employees, visitors and guests by the 28th.
In early March 2020, the company began rolling out guidelines around employees working remotely due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In September 2020, Microsoft released its official work-from-home policy, which allowed most employees to work from home part-time.
Capossela mentioned high local vaccination rates, lower hospitalization rates, and higher availability of testing factors that helped determine the reopening date.
Beyond the state of Washington, Microsoft’s Bay Area sites in California, including the tech giant’s new Silicon Valley Campus, will also be fully reopened on February 28.
