Microsoft in Talks to Buy AI Firm Nuance Communications for About $16 Billion

Share post:

Microsoft Corp. is in advanced talks to acquire AI and speech technology company Nuance Communications Inc. for $ 16 billion. An agreement could be announced as early as today if everything goes well between the two companies.

At that price point, the value of Nuance could reach $56 per share.

Nuance, a Massachusetts-based tech company whose voice recognition technology helped launch Apple’s Siri, manufactures software for sectors ranging from automotive industries to healthcare.

Should the acquisition push through, this would be Microsoft’s second-biggest deal after it had acquired LinkedIn in 2016 to the tune of $ 26.2 billion.
