Google Meet, a video communications service developed by Google, will add a new setting to “limit data usage” on Android and iOS in addition to a web update that will be released next month.

While Google Meet already customizes device, network, and set up to “provide the best possible meeting experience”, the new feature allows users to further optimize video call quality for their current devices and network conditions.

With version 2021. 04. 18 of Google Meet for Android and iOS, Google is now taking users a step further on mobile devices to minimize the use of mobile data, maximize battery life, and free up users’ devices, CPU, and memory for other tasks.

Google says that users “can use Google Meet in higher quality by simply toggling the data saver setting off.”
