World Latest Web Outage Hits Airlines, Banks

A major web outage on Thursday shut down several major companies, financial institutions and airlines from the U.S., Australia and China.

While the outage, which appears to have affected individual companies, websites and mobile applications, was caused by a third-party IT provider, major airlines in the U.S., including Delta, American, Southwest and United, major banks and airlines in Australia and Hong Kong Stock Exchange in China all experienced and reported an outage that was investigated on that day.
