OnlyFans Backs Out Of Planned Ban On Pornography

OnlyFans will reverse its original move to ban pornography and other sexually explicit content just days after announcing that it will ban sexually explicit material from its platform from October.

The initial ban announcement was in response to concerns from banks and other financial service providers that support payments on the platform.

The reverse became necessary after content creators on the platform criticized the decision, saying that the platform helped some of them who lost their jobs during the pandemic get back on their feet with revenue from the platform.

Morgan Music, a single mother from Washington state who sells explicit photos and videos on OnlyFans, explained how important the site has been to her life: “To have that lifted because I have, like, savings account for the first time and have a good credit score for the first time in my life, I think it’s hard to really convey how much that means to a person’s quality of life.”

OnlyFan lifted the original ban and announced on Wednesday: “We have secured assurances necessary to support our diverse creator community and have suspended the planned October 1 policy change. OnlyFans stands for inclusion and we will continue to provide a home for all creators.”
