Apple, Google, Microsoft and other major technology companies met Wednesday with President Joe Biden to discuss strengthening cybersecurity in the US, as the companies pledged to invest money and training towards the cause.

Initiatives include a partnership between the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and the businesses to improve the security of the technology supply chain and the expansion of the Industrial Control Systems (ICS).

Apple has announced it will launch a new program that will work with 9,000 suppliers in the U.S. to accelerate the mass rollout of multifactor authentication, security training, vulnerability remediation, event logging and response.

Google plans to invest $10 billion over the next five years to expand zero-trust technology, improve the security of the software supply chain, and enhance security for open source technologies.

IBM has pledged to train 150,000 people in cybersecurity skills over the next three years, while partnering with 20 historically black colleges and universities to establish cybersecurity leadership centres.
