Virtual Events Startups Optimistic About Life After COVID-19

Top executives and investors in the virtual event startup sector have expressed high hopes for life after the pandemic, even as people across the country return to their offices.

For Xiaoyin Qu, CEO and founder of Run The World, a return to in-person events seems inevitable. However, Qu believes that events that have more reach would continue to use virtual services.

Qu feels that many organizers are more likely to organize events with smaller capacities online – a trend that is likely to continue, given that is it easier to organize them in that manner.

He explained: “I think such events are still going to happen virtually just because they’re easier to organize and people can have more in-depth conversations. Internal virtual events for employees is another category that is getting more traction, because companies have been going remote. So many internal events like the company happy hour — events that help employees engage better — we think that’s still going to happen virtually. So there are a number of use cases we think will continue to be virtual and are probably better virtual.”
