New Google Chrome Update Fixes Zero-days Vulnuerabilities

Share post:

Google has begun an emergency Chrome 95.0.4638.69 update to address two zero-day vulnerabilities CVE-2021-38000 and CVE-2021-38003 currently exploited in the wild.

Since the zero-day vulnerabilities were used in attacks, Chrome users are therefore recommended to perform a manual upgrade or restart their browser to install the latest version.

While the update fixes a total of seven vulnerabilities, the first zero-day vulnerability, tracked as CVE-2021-38000 and discovered by Clement Lecigne, Neel Mehta, and Maddie Stone of Google Threat Analysis Group, has a high severity rating and is described as “Insufficient validation of untrusted input in Intents.”

The second zero-day, tracked as CVE-2021-38003, was discovered by Lecigne and it has a high severity as well. It is described as an “inappropriate implantation” bug in the Chrome V8 JavaScript engine.

At the moment, Google is not yet ready to release information on how threat actors exploit the vulnerabilities in attacks.
