The Ukrainian government has confirmed neutralizing a “massive cyberattack” targeting the Ukrainian Internet Service Provider Ukrtelecom.

The State Service of Special Communications and Information Protection (SSSCIP) of Ukraine explained that Ukrtelecom was resuming services.

The agency however stated on Twitter that Ukrtelecom services will be temporarily limited.

“In order to preserve its network infrastructure and to continue providing services to Ukraine’s Armed Forces and other military formations as well as to the customers, #Ukrtelecom has temporarily limited providing its services to the majority of private users and business-clients,” SSSCIP tweeted.

According to global internet access tracker NetBlocks, the attack affected the entire nation leading to the most severe internet disruption recorded in Ukraine since Russia’s invasion.

For SSSCIP Chairman Yurii Shchyhol, the attack signifies the first cyberwar in human history. He further assured that the “entire IT-community of the world” is United against Russia’s invasion.
